Interactive Classes

We have been working on a new online format quietly over the last couple of months which we're calling 'interactive classes'.

For a fixed fee, you get to join a group and follow a structured program over a number of days or weeks. Unlike other live online courses, 'interactive classes' uses a model called the 'flipped classroom'. This model is based on the idea that direct instruction to a group in a live class is not the best use of time. Instead, students get content in advance and can work through this in a self-paced way. This frees up class time for more one-to-one support between tutors and students.

We've taken this concept and designed the new format taking the idea of pre-recorded content - the backbone of our existing online courses - and added:

• the ability to join an immersive video conferencing experience with a tutor and other students

• a new more flexible tool to upload assignment work.

We are debuting this new format with Dave West's interactive class which is a weekly oil painting course delivered over a number of 6-week modules with each focused on a different subject area.
